Plagiarism and AI Policy

ANANTA: Journal of Language Education, Linguistics, and Literature is committed to upholding the highest standards of academic integrity, research ethics, and responsible scholarly publishing. All manuscripts submitted to the journal must be original, unpublished, and not under consideration by another journal or publisher. Every submission is screened using plagiarism detection software before entering the peer-review process. As a general guideline, the overall similarity index should not exceed 20%, while similarity from any single source should normally remain below 3%, excluding references, properly quoted material, and commonly used methodological expressions. The editorial team evaluates similarity reports qualitatively rather than relying solely on percentage scores. Manuscripts found to contain plagiarism, excessive textual overlap, duplicate publication, redundant publication, or inappropriate paraphrasing may be returned for revision or rejected at any stage of the editorial process.

ANANTA recognizes that artificial intelligence (AI) technologies may assist authors in improving the quality of scholarly writing when used responsibly and transparently. AI tools may be employed for language editing, grammar correction, translation, readability enhancement, or limited assistance in organizing ideas. However, authors remain solely responsible for the originality, accuracy, interpretation, and integrity of all content submitted to the journal. AI must not be used to fabricate or manipulate research data, generate fictitious references, produce misleading images or results, or replace the authors' intellectual contribution. Any significant use of AI during manuscript preparation should be transparently disclosed in the manuscript, preferably in the Acknowledgements or Methods section, including the name of the AI tool and the purpose for which it was used.

Artificial intelligence systems, including but not limited to ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Copilot, or similar technologies, cannot be listed as authors because they cannot assume responsibility for the content, approve the final version of the manuscript, or fulfill internationally accepted authorship criteria. Authorship is limited to individuals who have made substantial scholarly contributions to the work and who are accountable for its accuracy and integrity.

Editors and reviewers may use AI-assisted tools only for limited administrative or language-support purposes and must ensure that manuscript confidentiality and intellectual property are fully protected. Unpublished manuscripts or confidential reviewer materials must not be uploaded to publicly accessible AI platforms without appropriate safeguards. All editorial decisions are made exclusively by human editors based on scholarly merit, ethical standards, and the recommendations of independent peer reviewers.

Any violation of this policy, including plagiarism, undisclosed or inappropriate use of AI, fabrication or falsification of data, or other forms of research misconduct, may result in manuscript rejection, withdrawal of an accepted article, publication of a correction or retraction, notification to the authors' institution when appropriate, and restrictions on future submissions. This policy is developed in accordance with internationally recognized principles of publication ethics, including the recommendations of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE), and current guidance from leading scholarly publishers regarding the responsible use of artificial intelligence in academic publishing.
